The Guardianship of the World 's Waterways was formed at first in response to the Gulf Oil Spill  (2010) . It is created to educate and inspire people to protect wildlife and waters from pollution and oil spills . Our first inaugural award was given to Fabien Cousteau and The avian hospital Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary , now Seaside Seabird Sanctuary . Several artists , writers and filmmakers came together to donate works to help rehabilitate wildlife in waterways in Florida and around the Gulf .
 

In 2017 , GWW created dialogues and education to SAVE THE SWANS . NYState Dept. of Environmental Conservation wants to eradicate the entire mute swan population in NYState .
